These are just a few of the ways you can support the scholarship efforts of The Friends of Haiti Inc.
We are sure that you can think of many additional ways.
In addition to providing scholarships, we try to give the students additional items necessary for their success in school.
These items include, laptops, tablets, backpacks, reading glasses, reference books, cell phones etc.
Just as many additional items are required to help our U.S students successfully navigate their way through college, so it is also in Haiti.
Can you help by donating some of these much needed supplies?
Sponsor a Student
Become a sponsor for one of our students. The scholarship costs per year for a nurse is approximately $2000, and $2500 for a doctor. Compared to the costs of nursing and medical school here in the U. S., this is relatively inexpensive.
Yet to a Haitian who may earn about $100 per month, it is totally out of their reach.
Your generosity can change the life of the student you support. Education and medical expertise is crucial to Haiti. The student you support will touch many lives and give back 100 fold to their fellow Haitians.
You can make a difference!!!!!
Each year at Christmas, we collect food to take to our students. A big Christmas dinner is traditional here in the U.S. In Haiti, most of our students consider themselves fortunate if they can eat one meal a day. A big Christmas dinner is not an option.
We collect rice, beans, dried potato flakes, ramen, powered gravy packets, and other easily transported food products. We also collect canned spam, canned tuna, and canned chicken, to add protein to the mix. Volunteers take many suitcases to Haiti to give out to our students to share food with their families. It provides them with a special Christmas meal that they may not have otherwise.
